5 Wardrobe Staples for School
Back to school season is upon us, and I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I feel ready to get back into the swing of things and into my school routine, and most of all, I am excited to see my friends. On the other hand, though, I feel a bit apprehensive about senior fall, as it is the climax of college application stress. My goal for the fall is to find a good balance between academics, volleyball, and friends.
I have been doing a little bit of back-to-school shopping for new clothes because I recently cleaned out my closet and realized I need new favorites that I can wear on repeat. So, I thought about what I was excited to wear at school last year, and I ordered new versions of those items. I didn’t order anything I don’t feel excited about because those items always end up sitting in my closet.
At my school, we have a strict dress code in the fall and spring that requires a blazer. On the warm days I usually wear a dress with a blazer, but on colder days, we can get away with cardigans, colored jeans, and sometimes a tee shirt underneath a blazer or sweater. However, in the winter, this dress code dissolves in order to accommodate for the New England winter. I ordered a lot of clothing that can be worn in all three trimesters – essentially my day-to-day school “basics” that I can’t really get dressed without. Today I am sharing with you my tried-and-true favorites that make for an easy and successful school wardrobe.
1. Basic Tank Top
Basic tank tops are essential. I just ordered this Amazon tank top per Tinx’s recommendation on Instagram, and I am obsessed. I ordered the black version, and I plan to wear it with skirts, jeans, and sweatpants with a cardigan or blazer on top.
2. Graphic Tee
I often struggle with what to wear with jeans in order to look casual but not boring since wearing a white tee and jeans can get boring. A graphic tee solves this problem because you get the laid-back tee look with some spice.
3. THE Jeans
A good pair of jeans is essential – I call mine THE jeans. THE jeans make you feel confident, and they are versatile. I have recently been obsessed with Rolla’s Jeans – particularly their East Coast Flare style. I love their corduroy style especially, but I would go with their black or blue denim style as a basic. I think these are the perfect jeans that are flattering and versatile for people with all bodies and fashion sense. I also LOVE my Aritzia Melina pants. Technically these are not jeans, but I consider them a fall/winter staple.
4. Cardigan
A comfy, solid-colored cardigan is the perfect thing to throw on over any outfit. I also love to wear my cropped cardigan buttoned up with a statement necklace and jeans.
I think I wore a pair of white sneakers every day to school last year. They go with everything!
I hope this post was helpful and GOOD LUCK to everyone this school year!
