As a 17-year-old girl, I am always in sneakers. Regardless if I am at school or dinner out, I am likely in fashionable sneakers because they add a cute yet casual touch to any outfit. For example, when I am in a dress but am going to something rather casual, I throw on sneakers so as to not look over-dressed.

Right now, I am wearing my Veja V-10s and my platform low-top Converse on repeat, but there are times when I feel “basic” (for lack of a better word) wearing either of these because so many other people have them. This is not to say that there is anything wrong with liking the same things as other people, but sometimes I want my sneaker game to stand out! However, I often find that sneakers are the most challenging closet staple to find unique options for since they become so trendy so quickly. In elementary school, the “it” sneakers were Stan Smiths (which I still LOVE), in middle school they were chunky Filas, and in more recent years, Golden Goose and Vejas. I love all of these sneakers (minus the Filas… never again), but there are moments where I want to stand out and wear shoes that less people know about.

Although it is tough to find unique sneakers, I am a firm believer in the fact that it is possible to find uniqueness in every element of style.
