How to Make Your Quarantine Space Your Dream Room
Hi everybody! It’s week something of quarantine, and I keep finding myself on home decor sites shopping for new stuff to add to my room (AKA the only place I’ve been during all this). Who else can relate? So, I wanted to talk to you guys about all things dream room. From deep cleaning to decor, there are so many things you can add (and take away) from your room to make it your dream room or at least one step closer to it! Of course, many things about living spaces are unchangeable such as architectural design and such, however, if you are looking to make your room more inviting and representative of you, you have come to the right place!
I think having a room that represents the person who lives in it and their individuality is so important, no matter the time of year. However, it is especially important to have a room that you are content and comfortable in during this quarantine because we are all spending so much time in our rooms! Also, we all have nothing but time to work on creating a space that reflects each of us and our individuality, so let’s get to it. I am going to break down my top 5 tips and tricks for creating you dream room (for quarantine and beyond!).
1. Research
You know how people always say to read the recipe before you start cooking? Well I believe it’s the same thing with redecorating. It is SO important to have a vision of what you want to do before you do it. I suggest making a collage (it doesn’t have to be the prettiest thing ever) or a rough drawing or sketch to map out what you want to do. This is important because it shows how everything will look together, and it will help you stay organized in the process of redecorating.
2. Invest
This step is optional, but I recommend investing in your new space with some new items to make you feel happy and comfortable. That can be anything from a little candle or a new bedside table, but investing in something you love will make you look forward to being in your room. Down below are some super cute things that I love you can invest in and add to your room. Click on each image to shop:
3. Take the time
Taking the time to redecorate is super important because things can (and most likely will) become very unorganized otherwise. For example, I tried starting a closet clean-out last week. I had a rolling rack of clothes I was planning on giving away in my room along with shoes all over my closet floor, but I didn’t have the time to finish the clean-out. So, I had to eventually put everything away since I just didn’t have time to do a full clean-out. In reality, I need a full day to do an adequate closet clean-out, and I did not plan accordingly. Also, a good rule of thumb is to plan a little more time than you will actually need to avoid feeling stressed due to lack of time. Sometimes, taking a day to clean-out can sound tedious to some people, but trust me, you will feel much better after taking a day rather than taking weeks!
4. Clean everything out
This is pretty self explanatory, but be sure to clean and take everything out of your room before you redecorate. This will help you make space for the items you want to display, and it will allow you to really plan out what you want to do with your space.
5. Organize practically
Be sure to organize everything when putting it back in your room, but don’t do so in a way that isn’t practical because then you won’t use your stuff as much! There is definitely a way to organize in a way that looks clean and minimalistic but is also practical.
I hope you use these tips and tricks when redecorating your room, and be sure to let me know any of your own tips and tricks!
