10+ Cute Halloween Costumes for 2020
Does anyone else remember the last Halloween where they felt uncomfortable in their costume? I definitely do: 6th grade, I dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I felt too old to be dressed in that outfit, and I remember feeling embarrassed as I trick-or-treated (also my last year doing that) around my neighborhood where “cool” teenagers congregated at every corner. Mom thought I looked cute though. However, this experience not only built character, but it highlights the common struggle that most middle and high school girl faces at one point or another: finding a Halloween costume.
I am now a sophomore in high school, so I have been through a few years where I have struggled with what to dress up as. It is so hard to pick out a costume that is both cute, flattering, and a good maturity for my age and the occasion. I also try to be cute and expressive and, for lack of a better term, not basic. I just look for a happy medium of so many things, and I have struggled with figuring out these costumes and where to buy them. But I am here to save you guys from falling down the very long Pinterest rabbit hole of Halloween costumes! I have listed my favorite costumes right now and amazing pieces for each costume. Just click on the image of each piece to shop it directly!
1. Alien
This is a personal favorite of mine because I love sparkles and sequins. Enough said. You and your bestie can rock the outfits linked below, or you can mix and match the pieces yourself!
2. Zebra Cowgirl
Queen Kendall has set the bar high for all of you planning on being a cowgirl this year, so I got you! Her original set from I.AM.GIA is sold out, but I have found a similar and way more affordable set (and individual pieces) from Shein. Shein has a bad wrap for having inconsistent quality with their pieces, but I have seen this set on someone, and the quality is great.
3. Cheetah Girls
This is the ultimate group costume for big groups especially. Another person wants to join your group? Just add another color outfit!
4. Barbie
This is great for a last minute look since you could even just iron on the Barbie logo onto a white tube top or crop top.
5. Spice Girls
Another great group costume! This is harder to add to but is so adorable.
6. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
I thought it would be unethical to link to a small dog that can fit in a baguette bag on here, but if you have one of those, it would really add to this look. These pieces are also great to mix and match! You can also channel more general 2000s vibes with this costume if you would rather.
7. Tennis player
This costume is perfect for this year since people are loving tennis skirts right now! This a great low maintenance costume to go solo in or to do with a group.
8. Fairy/Tinkerbell
Paris appears again… but this costume is also perfect if you need something last minute or want a minimal look. However, this would also be a great look to go all out with hair, makeup, and accessories since the outfit itself is not too crazy.
9. Basketball player
Another great last minute costume! This is cute and easy, and you can never go wrong with this.
10. Space cowgirl
I was a proud space cowgirl last year for Halloween with my best friend, and I am still obsessed with it. This is another great spin on the typical cowgirl outfit and is just so fun when you wear it. Once again, it’s the sequins for me.
11. 80s workout
I love this costume so much. It is definitely form fitting, but with confidence looks so cute!
12. Gogo girl
I have also been a gogo girl for Halloween, however I was in elementary school. People say I’ve always had an eye for trends. Just kidding 🙂
