5 No-Equipment Workouts to Do at Home
Being quarantined can give us all a reason to sit at home and watch Netflix, but there are so many resources online for at home, no-equipment workouts that the quarantine should motivate us to do opposite! I’ve rounded up my favorite workouts and put them below along with links to awesome classes for each. You can do these in any open space in your house with no equipment at all. I hope these workout ideas inspire you to get moving!
1. Dance
I love dancing because it is a break from more traditional cardio workouts like running or cycling, but it still burns a lot of calories and leaves you out of breath afterwards. There are a ton of videos on Youtube that demonstrate easy and fun dances, no prior dance experience necessary! Check out two of my favorite classes below:
2. Yoga
Yoga is amazing for strengthening yourself using your own body weight (which means no weights needed!). It is a full body workout which makes it a super easy thing to fit into your day without feeling like you need to do any other type of workout that day. Check out the links below for some great classes:
3. Mat Pilates
Often times, we think of the type of pilates that takes place on a machine called a transformer, however, pilates can be done with no equipment and is just as effective! Check out the classes below:
4. Resistance bands
I know I said these workouts would be equipment-free, but resistance bands aren’t really equipment, right? Anyways, resistance bands are so great to put above your knees or ankles when doing exercises to increase strength. You can buy resistance bands on Amazon. I definitely think it’s worth it to buy them if you don’t already have some, but if you can’t get your hands on them, you can always do the workouts minus the bands. The bands just make the exercises more challenging, but they are not necessary. Click on the videos below for two great resistance band workouts:
5. No-equipment HIIT circuit
Lastly, a HIIT (high intensity interval training) circuit is a great way to fit in a bit of cardio and strengthening without having to step on a treadmill, bike, or elliptical. There are plenty of at home HIIT workout videos on Youtube that can take place in the comfort of your home! Check out two of my favorites below:
